The nashville folk rock outfit’s lead singer, judah akers, went through a divorce and lost two members of his family to suicide in between releases. He turned to music and bandmate brian macdonald for support. It’s also the framework for judah and the lion’s latest album, the process. Over the last two years, he’s been on a healing journey while processing the grief of a painful divorce. The album is “the process” which began as a chronicle of frontman judah akers’ divorce during the pandemic; Soon afterward he lost two relatives including one to suicide. Judah & the lion’s new album, the process, is divided into the five stages of grief. The central theme of the new record is the process of grief, which front man judah akers found himself going through after his painful divorce. That song came right before covid happened…it was the fall of 2019. Part of our last record (pep talks) was about my journey through my parents’ pretty explosive divorce, and my depression and anxiety going through that.
